Embark Gives back to the community

Giving back to the community is important to us. Embark gets involved locally and abroad.

Make A Wish Foundation (Edmonton, Alberta)

In October 2019, Embark entered into Make a Wish Foundation’s annual nationwide “Hero’s Challenge”. The Embark team raised $2700, and the funds went towards granting terminally ill children their wish. Embark then participated in a day of scavenger hunts and games with other local businesses, and got to meet some of the children who were a part this amazing organization.

 
 

Harbor4Life Youth Society (Bujumbura, Burundi)

Harbor4Life Youth Society is an Edmonton based charity that operates an orphanage in Africa. The organization has taken almost 40 children off of the streets and given them housing, nutrition and education. Ben got involved in 2017 went to stay at the orphanage for 3 months. During this time, he hosted a fundraiser that raised over $25,000 for the orphanage.

In January 2019, Ben became the director for Harbor4Life, and once again returned to the orphanage to stay and work for a month. The remaining Embark team gracefully worked to manage and oversee Embark’s operations during this time.

All three owners of Embark will continue to actively support this organization.

Ben Hobden

Ben began Embark Landscape & Design Inc. in 2015 while attending the University of Alberta. For the first two years of business, Embark operated around full time post secondary studies.

Embark saw some early success, and after graduation from the University of Alberta in 2017, Ben decided to continue with Embark Landscape & Design as his full time occupation.

With a Major In Human Resources, and a minor in Marketing, Ben has been able to utilize his business degree in Embark’s operations.

Jordan McDonald

Jordan worked up North plumbing for 3 years. He left in his third year to pursue his Golf Pro Certification .

While training for his pro card, Jordan worked with Embark, and helped Ben manage the company while Ben was finishing his University degree.

Once Ben graduated, Jordan and him decided that they would make Embark Landscape & Design their career path, and the rest is history!

Jarid Kelsch

Jarid pursued the trades after high school graduation. With experience in flatwork concrete, framing, roofing and carpentry, Jarid gained knowledge and a variety of skills in the construction industry. In 2017, Jarid completed his MFR course at NAIT in the hopes to become a firefighter.

Jarid began helping Embark as an extra hand on weekends and his days off. In 2018, he joined the management team full time to help the company grow further, and Embark was happy to have him.
